On June 12, 2025<\/strong>, Chengdu University<\/strong> led a delegation of executives from Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU)<\/strong> \u2014 including Dr. Sompong Raksatham<\/strong>, Acting President; Asst. Prof. Dr. Somrak Rodcharoen<\/strong>, Vice President for Research and Information Technology; Asst. Prof. Dr. Surin Thongthot<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Asst. Prof. Kasama Phakdeepan<\/strong>, Associate Dean; Asst. Prof. Chanaichanom Damsri<\/strong>, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology; and staff from the Division of International Strategy and Relations \u2014 to participate in a study visit on urban planning and city management<\/strong> in Chengdu<\/strong>, the capital city of Sichuan Province, People\u2019s Republic of China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity also included representatives from several Thai universities, such as Silpakorn University<\/strong>, Khon Kaen University<\/strong>, Chiang Mai University<\/strong>, Rangsit University<\/strong>, and Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study visit highlighted Chengdu\u2019s effective urban management model<\/strong>, focusing on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Its role as the economic hub of western China<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A century-old water management system<\/strong> that utilizes ancient wisdom to channel mountain water effectively and prevent flooding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Development as a transportation center<\/strong>, with two international airports supporting tourism and industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Strong environmental management<\/strong>, emphasizing forest conservation and protection of endangered native species such as giant pandas<\/strong> and various bird species.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Promotion of a green city concept<\/strong>, including the use of electric trains, plastic reduction campaigns, and the creation of bicycle lanes throughout the city.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This learning experience provided valuable insights into sustainable urban development and environmental conservation, serving as a model for future academic and regional collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
