Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University Signs MOU with Chengdu University during the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Thailand–China Diplomatic Relations and the 9th International Academic Week at Chengdu University, People’s Republic of China

On June 13, 2025, the executive delegation from Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU), led by Dr. Sompong Raksathum, Acting President, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Somrak Rodcharoen, Vice President for Research and Information Technology, Asst. Prof. Dr. Surin Thongthot, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lect. Kasama Pakdeepan, Associate Dean, Lect. Chanaichanom Damsri, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, and staff from the Division of International Strategy and Relations, participated in the MOU Signing Ceremony between Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University and Chengdu University. The ceremony was held as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and China and the 9th International Academic Week, hosted at Chengdu University, Sichuan Province, People’s Republic of China.

The collaboration signing was made at two levels:

  1. University-level Cooperation (MOU): The agreement between Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University and Chengdu University for the establishment of the Chengdu University Center at NSTRU, signed by Dr. Sompong Raksathum, Acting President of NSTRU.
  2. Faculty-level Cooperation (MOA): The agreement between the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, NSTRU, and the School of Tourism, Chengdu University, to implement a one-year internship program for NSTRU students at five-star hotels in Chengdu, signed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Surin Thongthot, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The signing ceremony was honored by the presence of the executive delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand, led by Mr. Supachai Jaisamuth, Assistant to the Minister, together with Ms. Luksamon Samanasinth, Director of the Bureau of International Affairs, and Ms. Natthasiri Nimyeesun, Acting Consul-General at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu**.

Also in attendance were representatives and executives from Thai universities in the cooperation network, including Ubon Ratchathani University, Silpakorn University, Mahidol University, Chiang Mai University, Khon Kaen University, Rangsit University, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University, the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), and Theodor International School, among others.

On the Chinese side, the ceremony was attended by Mr. Hua Weifeng, Senior Inspector of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Ms. Liu Min, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Sichuan Province, and Mr. Liu Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chengdu University.

This collaboration marks an important milestone in strengthening academic cooperation, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding between Thailand and China, reflecting the strong and enduring friendship that has flourished over the past 50 years of diplomatic relations.
